Intracapsular Cataract Extraction Using Low Temperature.
نویسنده
چکیده
Preliminary Report THE first report on the use of cryosurgery in cataract extraction was made by Krwawicz (1961); since then he has reported 660 extractions performed by this method. Kelman and Cooper (1963) have described its use in an unspecified number of.cases which included subluxated lenses and dislocated lenses. Bellows (1964) reported 6 cases. Rosengren (1965) gave the results of 120 cryoextractions. Experimental use of low temperature in ophthalmology was made by Scholar (1935) in producing an adhesive chorioretinitis in rabbits by the application of carbondioxide snow to the sclera. Bietti (1933) measured the fall in temperature at varying distances within the eye when dry ice and alcohol were applied to the sclera. Clinical use was made of the procedure in 1935 by Deutschmann, when he successfully produced an adhesive chorioretinitis in a case of retinal detachment.

Intracapsular Extraction of Intumescent Cataract by Application of Low Temperature.
THE technical improvements recently introduced into cataract surgery, and especially the application of enzymatic zonulolysis, promise to make the extraction of the cataractous lens easier and safer. There remain, however, some potential sources of difficulty, and no procedure is free from the risk of unexpected and often dangerous complications. Enzymatic abolition of the resistance of the zon...
متن کاملLongitudinal study on visual outcome and spectacle use after intracapsular cataract extraction in Northern India
PURPOSE More than 3 million cataract extractions are undertaken in India annually. Almost 60% of these operations are intracapsular Cataract Extractions. The subsequent optical correction is provided by aphakic spectacles. The aim of this study is to assess visual outcome and perceived benefits of post-operative use of aphakic spectacles. METHODS One hundred and sixty-seven persons who had un...
متن کاملSeverin intraocular lens. Report of 100 planned insertions after intracapsular cataract extraction.
100 consecutive planned Severin intraocular lens insertions following intracapsular cataract extraction are reviewed. Surgical technique, results and complications, including aborted insertions are discussed. The types of patient treated at this military hospital are detailed.
متن کاملFurther Experience with Intracapsular Cataract Extraction by Application of Low Temperature.
CATARACT extraction by application of low temperature has now been practised by us for nearly 2 years. The technical details of this method have been described in earlier papers, with reference to intumescent cataract (Krwawicz, 1961a,b). The application of the refrigerated cryoextractor to the cataractous lens produces an instantaneous freezing of the capsule and of the underlying mass, which ...
متن کاملComparison between the complications of cataract surgery following local anaesthesia with short stay and general anaesthesia with a five-day hospitalisation.
In December 1979 97 patients underwent intracapsular cataract extraction under local anaesthetic with planned discharge on the day after operation. Twenty-three of these patients had a prolonged stay in hospital, and five of these required early operative intervention following surgical complications. Sixteen patients did not attain a visual acuity better than 6/18. The visual outcome and posto...
